Pros

-I was a college student when I started with them. Management was fairly easy to work with in terms of my schedule. -At the store level, the job is easy enough: stock shelves, answer customer questions, defer to managers if confused. -25% employee discount on shoes, clothes and most hard goods. 10% on golf, electronics and bikes. Nothing off of guns or ammo. -The people at the store level are easy to get along with. You are "in the trenches" with them and you form a bond. -If you are in school or looking for a second job on the weekends, this is an easy place to assimilate into.

Cons

-As a part-timer, you are the bottom of the food chain and can easily be stepped on. Your voice is not heard and you are replaceable. Not that it is much different anywhere else. -Teamwork was always an issue. Some employees were willing to help other departments, many others were not. -There was no real form of training past the first day of employment. No cross-training. Footwear knows footwear, apparel knows apparel. Only the employees who have been around a while know about products in different departments. -Hours are cut on a regular basis and few full-time positions are available. -Schedules can be changed midweek and they do not call you to alert you. However, they did tend to be understanding when those things cause you to miss a day of work that you did not realize you were scheduled for.

Pros

I love working with the people that I see daily.

Cons

Managers work against each other with their own agendas. Not enough chances for advancement. No corporate advancement if you work in the store level.

Pros

Team atmosphere, making for a fairly cohesive unit. Getting to see new product often.

Cons

The cohesiveness of the the associates is made necessary because of toxic store management. Inconsistencies and failure to communicate between managers makes redoing a project a guarantee and redoing it twice a probability.
