DIS (Dealer Information Systems) reviews

The management is very rigid. The person who is in charge of development has never programmed at all in her life. Her only qualifications are from answering the help line and then managing it. So the entire focus for SW development is putting out fires for the customer and hacking in new features they want. There is no sustained effort to actually enhance the product or technology or mature the software processes. For instance, they don't have any test suite before release, therefore causing needless crises for most releases with more fires to put out. Most developers gave up very quickly trying to improve the processes because management just doesn't get it.

Everyone was friendly but nobody actually knew how the software worked. Calling the main office for technical support was answered with 'try this, try this, try this." Everybody had a specialty but nobody knew the damn product. Not to mention, the platform is waaay behind all their competitors. DOS based and clunky. Looks like something from 1985. It was actually embarrassing if a customer saw other products on the market and then asked why go with DIS.......
