Pros

Adancement opportunities for the young, especially for those with MBAs.

Cons

Sexist and ageist to a fault. A young, average owner of a MBA will suddenly get promoted over a 50 year old woman with 35 years of experience if he threatens to quit. No benefits to speak of. Yes, you do get a stock purchase plan, which is supposed to make up for the terrible insurance plan with ObamaCare like deductibles and co-pays, but it doesn't add up. IT people work weekends for free, and don't get comp time or any credit for their work. Then you get to watch them berated and yelled at over something completely inconsequential. I could not watch this hypocracy any longer and just decided it would make more sense to work on my next job opportunities full time, and spend more time with my family, which dish made completely impossible.

Pros

Most of the people are great. Good personalities and alot of people who really care about developing and helping others. At a local stand point dish does alot for the community and foe the most part works as best they can with employees concidering the type of job it is. Essentially if you come in and do your job you can succeed there.

Cons

My biggest con is that after investing 5 years into the company and putting in so much effort as a supervisor to help not only my agents but the site and the company i was terminated for something i had no control of. Someone took it upon themselves to write a hideous and slanderous email filled with lies about me and sent it out as if i was the one to send it and they sent it to site leaders, HR and several other employees. Dish addmittes that they didn't believe it was from me but because of the "content and the distraction" that they would have to terminate me. They failed to protect my best interest after i protected theirs for years. A simple investigation could have been done but it wasn't and instead of offerinf options like relocation they dropped me like it was nothing. My best suggestion is if you work at dish try not to stand out and over perform because someone will be jealous, someone will hate on you and if theu decide to soil your name you will be defenseless because dish wont be there for you.

Pros

Decent pay. If you are lucky enough to get a good manager, you might have a decent experience. Unfortunately even the good managers are helpless in most situations due to director and above management. Free satellite service.

Cons

They treat their employees like children, watching when you clock in and out. Their expectation is 45hrs minimum per week. For Christmas eve it was directed from the top that no employee under any circumstance could leave the building before 4:00PM. The benefits are a complete joke, the company is so cheap that the only perk you get is an extra week of PDO after 5 years and at 10 years you can use your sick time anytime you want. Aside from that there is zero benefit to staying with the company long term. If someone in upper management doesn't like you for any reason they will do anything they can to fire you. They use strong arm and scare tactics to get what they want. They could care less about employee culture and retention. Even 16 + year senior employees/managers are in constant fear of getting fired over the most ridiculous things. The list could go on and on.....
