-Most teachers and staff working within the school itself really do care about the kids -Scholars themselves are great
Cons
-Unstructured and unsafe practices lead to unnecessary conflict and set scholars up to fail -Leadership turns a blind eye to staff observations, requests, and even data - they’re only after an idea constructed by higher ups on what DREAM should be/is -That “family”maxim puts unrealistic expectations and burdens on teachers. DREAM gets away with a lot because of the emotional attachment they remind you of anytime you object to their practices. -DREAM seems to care more about their image than their scholars -Lack of physical safety for staff and students -Overworked - you and the kids -Restorative Justice practices are not standardized or structured in a way that makes them effective; it’s just an overarching concept with no true practice and ends up perpetuating the harm it is trying to avoid
