Pay OK for Michigan. Remodeled areas are nice,

Cons

Unspoken rule is to work however many hours it takes, even weekends and never bill for over 40 hours per week. You can but if you do you'll get paid once and shown the door the next week.

Pros

A good number of employees are bright; passionate about their work. Front-line supervisors mostly flexible regarding work schedule.

Cons

They won't fire anyone to save its life. There are several employees that are more trouble than they are worth. These folks will never leave the company since they must know in the back of their mind - they wouldn't survive in a real job. It's not about the quality it's about the quantity i.e., producing mind-numbing packs with such useless information it would make your eyes bleed. And these employees do not have technical skills - so the crux of it is... DTE is a big-time enabler and does not confront problem employees. And heavens forbid if you bring up problem employees to mgmt - they do not want to hear - gently pat you on your head and send you on your way.

Pros

Because DTE is a utility it is a very secure company to work for. Many employees are able to spend their entire career working through the ranks within DTE.

Cons

Career advancement opportunities can be very limited in part because so many of the employees have been with the company for such a long time and seniority is key to advancement. DTE does a very poor job of growing and retaining talent so the people who rise through the ranks into senior management tend be people who have lasted the longest.
