Pros

The people who come in everyday and work hard with hearts and hands. KT holds his core values very strongly, it's a strong counter point against all his VP's and Directors.

Cons

Management calls success a cube that can't be any smaller because of fire code laws success. They have zero respect for IT and it shows in how they banish them from the HQ building into a building no one wants to be in, and shrink the cubes because having a space where you aren't on top of one another is a luxury. Provide an actual path to develop your non resource managers. Technical people should be promoted more often then once every 8 years. Every director tries to power build so that they can be a VP, they ignore all the core values because their promotion is all they can focus on.

Pros

The only real reason someone should consider this company is if they are looking at one of the very few work from home options. On the other hand, if you are a drinker looking for free booze, you will probably like this company. Even at daytime events, the booze flows freely with no monitoring of who is drinking how much - and no monitoring of who is driving afterwards.

Cons

The stated company values do not match the reality. Employees are not treated as portrayed in writing or "publicity" materials. An employee must be diligent about checking their paycheck to make sure the correct amounts were deducted. When you leave, you will not receive your PTO payout. AFTER your insurances have terminated, they will still be taken out of your last check even though they should not be. Employees are expected to participate in "volunteer" activities at their own expense and on their own time . . . even if these "volunteer" activities are to do paperwork for another DaVita location. In addition, employees are constantly expected to donate money for this or that organization or event - but it is all done in the name of the company. If you do not participate in these "volunteer" activities, you may eventually be let go for "lack of involvement in the community." The health insurance provided is not very good - and it does not cover many things covered by plans at other companies. Do not expect promotions or sizeable pay increases even though you are an excellent employee with excellent production . . . expect to be given an excuse for the 0% or 1% pay increase. You must be part of management's clique to get a decent pay increase or a promotion. If you find anything wrong with their "systems," you will be terminated.

Pros

I do have fun at my job. Compared to other jobs I have had as a dietitian I really enjoy and appreciate my value here. People do look up to me as the nutrition expert and I love that I have developed special relationships with my patients. I am not sure if this is necessarily something that is generated by DaVita or if it is true of the entire dialysis industry for dietitians. I have not worked for another dialysis company.

Cons

The FA and those at the top get all the glory while I am the one putting in long days for the "numbers" to be good. The PCTs work hard during turnover, but the rest of the time they are on their phones or the internet. As the dietitian, I do not have that luxury. I am always working--oftentimes on my weekends doing special projects for the patients. I do a little bit of everyone else's job--social worker, AA, and clinical coordinator but no one ever does my job. I work tirelessly and do not feel like that is rewarded.
