Pros

The dialysis modality allows nurses to know their patients well, therefore, allowing one to more easily assess and monitor changes.

Cons

If you have your BSN, why join Davita? You have been educated in leadership, a problem-solver/change agent. Since 2008, when the clinical coordinator role (another manager) was introduced, actual RN monitoring on the floor was reduced, making policies a near impossibility to implement. Thus, when things go wrong, a culture of silence results, as no one wants to write incident reports. If you are considering joining this company, at least make an informed decision--google: Davita scapegoat. There -- a history lesson of how one nurse is narrowed down and made culpable when things go wrong in one of their units. New RN -- There are great jobs out there--my advice is to network, find a nurse manager, who will be your role model on which to build a career, never compromising your integrity to do what is right for your patient.

Pros

I can't find one good thing to say about this company.

Cons

Second day on job: boss fired. No direction, no goals, just "run with it." VP was an egotistical blowhard who expected you to read her mind. In the meeting to tell us she fired our boss, she told us about her new dating life. Really?? The interview process took over 3 months, they didn't know what they wanted and I was told I would have to relocate to a city I had no desire to live in. Smoke and mirrors, bait and switch and a lot of smiling back stabbing people. I was told to drink the koolaid. They also EXPECT (force) you to volunteer for a lot of charities - no problem but I would like to have a say in who I volunteer for and when. There is no work/life balance. Worst of all they are completely out of touch on salary. Can you spell cheap? My advice is run unless you are desperate.
