Pros

Flexible Professional development- you an take any course within the colleges for free or low cost ( if it relates to your job) Health Benefits paid 100% Off during Spring Break and Winter Holiday Community Focused Some genuine people who love what they do Various campuses

Cons

On the Teacher Retirement System ( not Social Security) which is you do not plan to work in education for a long time, select the mutual funds options instead. Not all facilities are attractive. Some in shady areas. Limited room for professional growth, unless you love to play the political game often found in government institutions like this. Salaries are low for valuable positions. No ability to negotiate salary since most entry level opportunities are on some kind of chart pay scale.

Pros

Salary was decent. Generous amount of holidays.

Cons

Leadership and management have no plan. Or rather, they have ambitious plans, but no clue how to successfully prepare for and execute the plans. In my 3 years there, my experience was almost laughable (if it hadn't been such a nightmare). I was promised that my role would be largely administrative, with the emphasis on growing my program. I was told I would have a shared administrative assistant and and optional teaching load. Within 3 months of starting, the assistant had been cut, and I was teaching 15 hours per week. I was not given any performance review (formal or otherwise) for over a year. I had extra programs forced on me by management. I have never worked at any institution that treats its employees with such an astonishing level of disrespect. The only thing senior leadership cares about is meeting metrics to hit their bonuses. The student experience and the employee experience are barely a consideration. This place is a rapidly sinking ship. Toxic environment, incredibly low morale. Stay far away.

Cons

Primarily Administration — horribly organized, lack of communication, not supportive
