Lots of complicated cases on a day to day basis

Working 3 twelve-hour shifts might be appealing to a lot of people. They fail to tell you that the work week starts on Wednesday and ends on Tuesday. So you will often work at least 4-5 days in a typical Monday through Sunday week. It is challenging to coordinate if you have family with Monday-Friday schedules. You can get pulled to work other units that you are not familiar with. If you volunteer to work overtime on your off days you can be canceled on your scheduled work days. You can still use PTO for the hours your shift is canceled but you lose the time and a half, making it pointless to have worked overtime to begin with. Budgeting is prioritized over patient safety and staff/patient ratio. Employee parking is uncovered and two blocks from the hospital. If you have to work later in the day, it is not uncommon to have no available parking spots in your designated parking area. You have to drive around and find parking somewhere else or wait until a car leaves. The food options are disgusting and unhealthy. You are hired to work 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM but you actually have to be at work by 6:30, which may not seem like a big deal unless you have children. Most child care centers do not open until 6:30AM. If you do not care about work/life balance and providing quality patient care then this is the company for you.
