      Excellent training, if hard work scares you move on

      Pros

      Great training, wonderful culture. Solid restaurant concept, industry leading procedures. Notoriety as one the 100 top companies to work, Fortune 400 company.

      Cons

      They are streamlining the Ops side of things with technology and overwritten procedure to the point that human talent and input has been removed from the equation. They are building themselves to a future of mediocre staff members in the name of reducing labor costs . From the DO's down to the Hosts at the front door, Longhorn Steakhouse specifically is heading down a path of encouraging a culture built on the bare minimum. Those with a desire for a personal best, seek elsewhere.

      Pros

      As a manager you have good job security, and some management seems to be compensated well for their time-- however, not all people get fair pay. If you are smart and hard working you can pretty easily be promoted to a General Manager in about 2 years.

      Cons

      It is still an environment where you work long hours (50+ per week) and have little work/life balance. You stand on your feet 10 hours a day and most times don't have a chance to eat lunch or even sit while you're working. Most General Managers are lazy and expect the assistant managers to hold the weight of responsibility in the restaurant's operations and metrics.
