Pros

Darktrace is like the Wild West of sales & cyber security. There will be many opportunities for you to make an incredible amount of money and you really get out what you put in. The technology is very interesting, and it is the perfect opportunity for you to get your feet wet in a booming industry with little to no experience fresh out of college. If you are okay with a high intensity environment, this is the place for you. You are rewarded strongly for your effort and success, and there are little rules or roadblocks in the way to stop you from making good, good money.

Cons

If you do not have any previous sales experience, this role will be nearly impossible. There is an incredibly steep learning curve, and training does not help as much as it needs to. You will be thrown into the fire quickly and without much support, and this is why Darktrace tends to have such a high burnout rate after training, hence some of the 1-2 star reviews I think. If you are not prepared to swim, you will sink quickly as there is not much support for you once in the field. Lean on your coworkers, and find a more experienced rep to lean on for questions/advice. The internal CRM is abysmal and is quite literally it’s own living organism - it will do whatever it wants, shuts down often, and is a pain to navigate. However, when you get used to it it becomes manageable. You WILL be seen as a number and not a name. Management is adamant about numbers. This is a British company, not American. High intensity, high volume, and long hours. You will be expected to perform at your peak but you will be rewarded for it. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.

Pros

No pros I can share.

Cons

Management is immature and managers, directors and VPs are being promoted based on favoursim rather than actual competence of leading a team or having any people skills. Some get promoted because of hitting a percentage of quota, but that does not mean they are capable of leading a team. If you don’t belong to the inner circle of management, you will simply not succeed as the very rare opportunities and leads will be handed to favoured employees which are used to make management themselves look well. There is no cultural understanding of business nor local cultural respect towards different cultures of customers and employees. The majority of the employees that are in a favoured position relocated from HQ in the UK, and don’t adapt to the business environment here resulting in a toxic team environment. Employees are made fun of on team- wide calls by managers and VPs as if it is normal. Reflecting the lack of professionalism. High turnover, people leave within 1-2 years and they are constantly hiring to make up for the turnover. They will make it look like in interviews that they are hiring because they are growing in the region, in reality the amount of customers is rather minimum and again - only a handful of people get the chance to work with actual customers rather than endlessly chasing low opportunity leads. Territory division is unrealistic for most people to hit quota. Very underpaid, especially for this region. No benefits or expat packages, just a base salary and a commission structure that is made sound better than it really is. What you will make in commission + base is not even 50% of what you should be paid in this industry and this market. However, the payment structure simply reflects the fact that they just hire fresh grads or people with very minimum sales experience. There is no employee that is actually hired for their expertise or experience in the industry.
