Pros

The Databricks product, albeit very complex (even to onboard engineers) is one that top of class once learned. The improvements the company continues to make to compete against Snowflake and dominate the Lakehouse space combined with the new industry push into LLM AI learning integration makes this a wonderful company to learn and grow at.

Cons

The company is growing too fast while wanting to maintain it's "startup" identity and that is significantly diluting the culture and talent brought in.

Pros

Comp was OK Equity Good tech

Cons

Micromanagement and not all all empowering. Things seem to move very slowly because of the level of micromanagement. Layoffs and no support or concern at all for those that were impacted. Very much a “this is how we do it here” culture which was surprising for a disruptive tech company. Goals and objectives not clearly defined, so you don’t know what to focus on. Apparent favoritism for those that have relationships with leadership. Many layers of management for a company of this size.

Pros

The current level of talent and employee attitude here is excellent. Bricksters are generally well intentioned, collaborative, very smart, and very hard working. There is a shared and embraces sense of company-first mission. Things get done here very rapidly. A real 'GSD' (Getting Stuff Done) culture. I think that Databricks has a bright future, and your compensation normally includes the RSUs (company stock), which, hopefully will pay off when the company goes IPO.

Cons

Having such a fast paced, high bar, rapid delivery culture comes with expected downsides: - Employee burnout is real, though it is often self-driven - Bias for action sometimes backfires and work has to be redone / backtracked - Like in any fast growing company, technical debt is real and not always addressed in a timely manner From the compensation perspective, the stock awards (RSUs) are not liquid since the company is still private.
