Pros

After coming from a number of different workplaces where I consistently felt undervalued as an employee, Dataminr has been a breath of fresh air. Training for new hires is extensive and supportive, the benefits are amazing, and everyone is extremely welcoming and open. Never before have I been told I can talk directly with a VP or person in upper management. They pride themselves on maintaining a company culture that motivates and challenges employees. There seems to be a huge potential for growth at this company.

Cons

None that I can report so far!

Pros

I had my anniversary at Dataminr a few weeks ago and I honestly could not be happier. I am part of a great team, have friends throughout the organization from varying departments and I make good money working with a product that I can genuinely get excited about. While this may not be my true ikigai it's coming close. -Great pay -Work-life balance -Meritocracy -Smart coworkers -I like what I do -A product that is completely one of a kind, we don't really have true competitors... -Under-rated perks like full-access to the work desk setup of your dreams -Other standard startup perks like happy hours, food in office etc.

Cons

-Communication between departments can lack on occasion. -Lack of support for fringe efforts, mostly due to being a (late-stage) startup and not yet having the full processes in place for new ideas or ideas that are on the fringe of core company value. This is improving every day though. -A few of our largest clients can dominate development needs, for good reason, but can cause hold ups if you are outside of that as I am and need something in a rush. -Used to have bi-monthly office massages, this stopped just before I joined and still sad about it.

Pros

Seemingly laid back culture, snacks

Cons

Work is not intellectually challenging. Can't tell if product actually works. Promotions based on favoritism, not merit. Many layoffs for political reasons. There are a lot of fake reviews here about how great Dataminr is to work (none of my coworkers liked it here), which should be a warning sign by itself. Very suspicious of the company and leadership.
