Pros

Pretty good benefits, 401k match Lots of smart, hard working people, very few "just getting by" type employees Depending on your role and boss, can be very flexible Pre-covid there were lots of little benefits like a free lunch every Friday Still feels cooler than your typical mega-corp

Cons

You can probably get paid more for the same job at other companies, one of the main reasons Shipt poached our people for years. They got rid of the best benefit with no warning, which was 5 days per year paid time off for professional development + like $1,500. You could go to a conference, take a class, pay for a certification, whatever you wanted for your own development. I understand it was a big expense but geez, at least give people some notice or a more gradual phase out, I was using that to help pay for college! Board decided to get rid of our beloved service/culture focused CEO of 15+ years to hire a guy that is all Sales all the time. The official line is "Dave was great when we were small and focused on non-profit gyms, but he wasn't the right person to build us into a larger organization". I still have not heard which of his specific attributes were holding us back. And then Dave started a new company focused on helping SaaS companies avoid private equity investors that will own a company for 5 years, make all sorts of cost cutting decisions to pump up the value, then sell it for the most profit. So that kind of tells you all you need to know about what happened. That said, it's still the best place I've ever personally worked. But it's hard not to be pessimistic now, knowing how great it used to be. Maybe that's what always happens on the way from start up to mega corp.

Pros

Excellent workplace, elite people. The opportunity to learn on the job was fantastic.

Cons

If anything, the pay is slightly lower than comparable positions.
