Pros

-Nice building -Easy commute from Annapolis -Serving men and women in uniform -Military installation, good area -Some high profile assignments, filming President, SecDef

Cons

-Hostile, toxic environment -Not collaborative working environment, too old school -No promotion opportunities: especially beyond 12/13 grade -Untrustworthy leaders, promised things before I was hired that they did not deliver -Not forward thinking, I was told that they won't allow me to telework because "people are not working when they are teleworking, they are taking a day off"..It is run by retired officers and they treat their employees like young troops to be controlled -Poor cafeteria, over-priced, and very slow service

Good place to start out but don't plan on staying!

Pros

They keep up with newer technology. Some good people there who try their best to make it a good place to work. Good location; lots of stuff to do in the area.

Cons

DMA is full of current, ex, or retired military people who think that they are still in the military and can treat others like they are new recruits. Poor leadership is rampant and cronyism and favoritism rule the agency. Although they have a lot of new technology, the idea that "this is the way we have always done it" rules leadership and at times renders their technological edge useless. There is a lot of duplication of effort and individual divisions refuse to work with each other to streamline their efforts because they don't want to lose funding for their projects. Finally, the place is overstaffed with supervisory personnel and there is very little opportunity for advancement unless you leave the agency. This is a good place to get an entry-level position, get your time in as a government employee and then move on to something else where you can succeed!

Mixed feelings.

Pros

There are some extremely talented people in DMA. Honored to work with them. Workforce development works hard to create opportunities for employee growth.

Cons

There are some extremely self-serving employees at the HQ who ruin it for everyone. The organization is still fractured and the sense of direction isn't making it's way out of the component level.
