Pros

Great job for new grads. Smart, social, good-looking people. If you're interested in the field or if you jive with the culture, it's great.

Cons

Whacked out salaries (first-year analysts making more than top-performing second-year analysts, etc). Bizarre all-consuming culture that everyone is obsessed with. People more concerned with their "career" than the actual work, which is often terrible and boring. More emphasis placed on long hours and completing stupid, useless documents than on working smart and getting out at a reasonable time. "Drive your own career" is nearly impossible in some spaces at the junior level- nobody cares what you want to do if it's even remotely abnormal. TOO MANY BUZZWORDS.

Pros

If you have not had a professional job before, this is an excellent starting point for you will learn a lot about the real world of working and you will learn it fast. From business etiquette to basic industry knowledges, you will be exposed to it all in some degree and fashion. You somewhat have the ability to chose the path you take while at Deloitte. Meaning if you are strategic with your connections and can swoon via telecommunications, you can migrate from projects until you find your niche.

Cons

There is this umbrella of unsaid but very much applied pressure at Deloitte. As I am sure it is at other large firms. The con of this is that no one acknowledges the pressure, and in actuality, they speak and act the contradiction of it. At the firm, everyone wears this face of "we are the happiest we have ever been, there is no greater place that Deloitte, I love my work/life balance" but in actuality that is not what is going on. If you are not online at all times, it is frowned upon. If you are not contributing over 100%, you are slacking.

Hostile, Toxic Shark Tank

Pros

The benefits are really great, but don't count on being able to use your PTO at senior levels. The flexibility of working from home also works for a lot of individuals.

Cons

For a firm that prides itself on being a great place for women, a great employer, etc., my experience was that leadership creates a culture of fear, perfectionism, and toxicity that then ripples down through the ranks. People simply aren't nice to one another and women are especially brutal to one another. The 6 weeks of vacation I was afforded my first year might have been great if I'd been allowed to take it, but at senior levels, it's often not possible. Going to work every day was like swimming in a shark tank. I have never had a more brow-beating, self-centered manager in my entire career.
