Pros
Prior to Deltek all my previous jobs had been with European-based organisations, so I was unsure what would come with a US-based organisation. My experience thus far has been of a strong blend of ambition, clarity of direction and drive, combined with a genuine commitment to the well-being of the staff. During my recruitment interviews a lot of emphasis was placed on the management of people. I am happy to say that this was not simply a lot of 'spin' to sell the company to a potential recruit. I have received and been able to offer my team real care and support during those times when a little bit of help can make a big difference to your feelings about your employer. Flexibility and commitment is a two-way agreement and I am pleased to see it operating that way in Deltek. During the coronavirus period Deltek has managed the response in what I think is a mature, open and responsive manner. The company regularly reminds us that customers are central to what we do and we must do what we can to improve the service that they receive from us. Deltek hasn't fallen foul of the internal navel-gazing and meaningless 'customer first' flag-waving that afflicts so many businesses. If you want a varied and stimulating job that provides a good mix of development, reward (financial and personal) and the ability to have a life outside of work, then you may find that Deltek is a great fit for you.
Cons
Deltek is a combination of different business units consisting of the various companies that Deltek has purchased over time. Your experience and opportunity may vary depending on the BU that you find yourself in. Some of the products are quite mature now so you may not be at the forefront of technical innovation. The reward package is not the highest out there. It is a great balance between work and private life, so it depends whether money or personal time are a priority for you. Having said that, bonuses have been regular - paid every quarter since I joined. I have worked in other roles where the OTE was higher but it turned out to be a mythical beast.
