Pros

I worked with some smart people there. Unfortunately the best ones left very quickly due to the very unstructured environment.

Cons

I liked my peers at Reddwerks, but I had to leave as the environment was total chaos. You basically sat doing nothing for months, and then you were suddenly sent on-site for weeks, working non-stop, around the clock fixing bugs. All projects I worked on were a total mess. Training was non-existent. People were fired left and right. You never knew why, but I guess it was due to poor profitability. Information was very much kept under wraps. I heard thing got even worse in 2017, so I am glad I got out of there,

Pros

The coworkers have always been fun. There is a young environment as many people are hired right out of college. There are fun events every so often to participate in. The benefits start right away. There tends to be a lot of variety in the work.

Cons

There is lots of travel, and it is usually to the middle of no where for the job site. This means long trips and long hours on these trips. There is an underlying feeling that the company does not care for the individual employees. There is also concern as they move engineering and manufacturing more internationally. Currently there is a major concern as we see our customers shifting to the competition due to manufacturing delays.

Pros

A decent environment for new hires out of college to gain exposure to automation, however it's not a great learning environment long-term. If you enjoy or need structure, or want to become an institutional employee that learns the corporate way and only does the one thing then Dematic is a good place to work.

Cons

The company is heavily partitioned (or silo-ed) such that two people sitting next to each other in the same department don't know what it is the other does, nor does each person know what happens with the work product she/he receives or produces. Dematic wants soldiers or robots. Don't question why, just do and die. Don't expect to make a significant impact or exercise your brain. Dematic may be a good company for "business" people (i.e. those supporting roles such as accounting, finance, management), but for those whose job it is to execute projects for customers it's not a good atmosphere; not creative, not exciting, not requiring much brain power. Example, Dematic has removed (pre-engineered) much of the engineering from its conveyor product lines. In practice engineers take pre-engineered "blocks" to create drawings, code etc. It's not all this way, but it speaks of the Dematic culture.
