Pros
Made a lot of tips while working there. I was able to save a lot while my employment there. It gets pretty busy which always keeps you moving, concentrated, and before you know it it’s time to go home.
Cons
Poor management that have no respect for you as an employee. I kept getting write ups for things that were not deserved. Had one write up for table-turns. Our location was close to a school, so the students would come in and order something and basically study until it was time for next class. They would be there for HOURS. which I didn’t mind. But the company does. I guess they’d rather me kick them out and force them to pay their bills in under an hour. So basically I would get in trouble every time a customer would take too long to close their tab. I also got written up for a mistake I didn’t do. Another server was trying to help and took the wrong order to my table, needless to say when I came over to make sure everything was good the family was very annoyed (understandably since they had been waiting for a while since it was breakfast rush hour). I apologized and explained that I would fix it right away, but they asked to speak to the manager immediately. They refunded the whole order and gave a complimentary visit for the future. I got written up right after. I refused to sign because that would admit guilt and she said, “it doesn’t matter if you sign, you’re still getting the write up.” When I asked why I was getting a write up she said, “that was a major loss to our store which will have to be reported back to the company. We need someone to blame and your name is on the ticket.” SERIOUSLY? They’d also rather you work through the rush than respect your breaks. They would have us take our lunch whenever it was slow and too early into the shift and NOT clock out, this way, you’ll be available once the rush came in. They would make you clock out to lunch at a respectable time and make you work through it. Yep, that’s totally illegal.
