Pros

Good compensation, benefits and training. Job security.

Cons

Kind of a "good old boys" club. It definitely helps to know someone. Staff seems more concerned with following established policies and procedures than trying to improve. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Generally a conservative atmosphere which can be expected since it is a public utility.

Pros

Decent working environment, supportive of continuing education, people are generally nice and good to work with.

Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement, many long-term employees (20 -30 years +) creates a "good old boy" network that you can't really break into. This leads to some favoritism in job placement, tolerating incompetence, etc.
