Pros

Nice people -- they care about doing quality work. The company gives a lot of flexibility in schedule, and what tools you are allowed to do your job with. The tiny houses are fun, and it's cool that we have free range to do whatever decorations we want within them.

Cons

Too focused on doing what the client wants, and not always what is best. I know a consulting business is going to have a hard time with getting clients while also trying to enforce quality and slow down for what is best for the client, so it's a tricky tradeoff -- make money or make good software?

Pros

An exciting culture and the constant willingness to change and adapt as the company grows. Leadership is willing to try unconventional approaches to compensation and benefits. Being a part of starting new projects and businesses was fun and exciting. You can get a taste of what it's like to be an entrepreneur without necessarily having to take all of the risks. Its not an "open office" concept with a bunch of cubicles, so you're actually able get work done.

Cons

DeveloperTown is a consulting firm. The workload and the flow of work can be frustrating to keep up with. There is a weekly billable hours goal, but the law firm model of annual billable hours might allow better flexibility to the employee to manage their own time. Because leadership is willing to try new benefits/incentive structures, things change often. This was an advantage to the firm at a smaller size, but the annual process of learning and dealing with these changes was a little annoying. The houses are a nice idea, but the uniqueness wares off. Its a nice idea and customizing your own spaces is great, but traditional offices (not cubicles) would be just as effective.
