Nurses, be cautious — this is not a job for the weak, and mental health support is virtually nonexistent. Workload & Coverage Issues • Employees are expected to manage their own full workload and cover for others when staff are off, creating an unmanageable level of work. • During holidays, large numbers of nurses take time off, leaving remaining staff overwhelmed with an excessive caseload. • The lack of planning and support during these periods causes extreme stress and further contributes to burnout.
