Pros

Smart and hardworking people across the organization. Interesting robotics and AI problems to work on. Opportunity to gain exposure to a fast-growing robotics company.

Cons

My experience was disappointing overall. The company has ambitious goals, but execution often suffers from a lack of clear leadership and direction. Priorities change frequently, decisions appear reactive, and teams are expected to adapt to shifting goals with little explanation. This creates a constant sense of firefighting rather than deliberate execution. Micromanagement is a significant issue. There is very little trust in employees to make decisions within their areas of expertise. Layers of oversight slow down execution and create unnecessary stress. Work-life balance is poor. Long days are common, and it is not unusual to find yourself working from early morning into late evening or even past midnight. Unfortunately, these extended hours often stem from changing priorities, poor planning, and organizational inefficiencies rather than genuinely urgent business needs. The culture can also feel highly political and blame-oriented. When things go wrong, the focus often shifts to identifying who is responsible instead of understanding why the issue occurred and how to prevent it from happening again. One thing prospective employees should understand is that this is fundamentally a hardware company. Teams directly involved in hardware development or software that is tightly coupled with the hardware platform tend to have more influence, visibility, and perceived importance. Other organizations can sometimes feel like supporting functions rather than equal partners in the company's success. There also appears to be a pattern of frequent hiring and layoffs/reorganizations, which creates uncertainty and makes long-term career planning difficult. It can feel as though certain teams are treated as strategic investments while others are viewed as easily replaceable headcount.

Pros

- Lots of opportunities for problem solving. - Great robotics platform to learn and develop (if you can get into the right work group). - Pay is decent for the industry. - Benefits are very generous.

Cons

- The environment is stressful (understandable for a startup) but hard work doesn’t feel rewarding or appreciated. Be ready to work a lot and not be recognized for it. - The team seems very reactive to problems instead of anticipating/scheduling for them, making the workload more stressful than necessary. - Teams are heavily segregated from each other making, communication of tasks and priorities difficult. - As a technician, I was rarely asked for help by the engineering staff for mechanical problem solving or design input (I have extensive experience in both). - Company culture is nonexistent. Company social events are few and far between, often feeling thrown together without much thought. Any suggestions for improving culture are snubbed or deprioritized. - Career growth plans are not taken seriously. Yearly reviews for compensation adjustments are promised by management but are not executed. - The CEO has great energy and optimism but lacks true leadership skills and is not inspiring. Those in top leadership positions who reasonably challenge the CEO are usually fired and replaced with more “agreeable” people.
