Pros

Compensation - although Diamondback doesn't give every unlucky Permian Basin employee a location premium. Cash Bonus - great to receive this during spring break each March. Stock Bonus - solid, when the stock is not worth $20. Benefits - good medical and vision. Career Opportunities - great if you have white male privilege, in a white male privilege company.

Cons

Compensation - talk about it with your friends, you'll be surprised how wildly your pay varies. It's eye opening how much people are valued, or undervalued by supervisors. Bonuses (Cash/Stock) - big bosses will tell you they're transparent, but they're not. How is your bonus calculated? God only knows. (If it seems like a BS game, it's because it is. Trust your instincts!) Benefits - dental benefit might as well be "good luck." Career Opportunities - not so good if you're hispanic, black, or asian.

Pros

Great benefits, mostly great leadership team. CEO & President really seem to care about the employees.

Cons

No teamwork in the HR function and it bleeds down in to the rest of the company. HR Advisors are promoted simply because they kiss up and not because they are ready for the promotion. HR function now includes Administration and Facilities...and none are being done well.

Don't do it

Pros

Field teams: I enjoyed the people I directly worked with. Insurance: Fully covered by company, good insurance.

Cons

Management is so far removed from the field I would be surprised if they knew what an oil well looked like anymore. Do not question upper management! They won't like it, and then will hold any raises or promotions from you until you rescind your question (despite the fact that you've already been doing that job for months). Management: there are so many levels of pseudo-management that it's surprising anything gets done. Really doesn't matter anyway, because at the end of the day there are like 5 select people that can shut down whatever you're working on, simply because you're not doing it "their way". Overall, it seems like Diamondback started out with the right ideas, but as they've grown have swung wildly away from anything resembling a moral and ethical company to be employed by. The attitude driving the company these days is "we're Diamondback, so you WILL do whatever we say cause of who we are". This attitude extends to vendors, landowners, and employees.
