Pros

I have worked at Digital Realty for coming up on five years now and it has been a great experience. The company has evolved and expanded a lot since I came on board, and there have certainly been growing pains, but overall I would say I have learned a ton and had the opportunity to contribute to some important initiatives and programs. There are many talented, supportive and fun people throughout the organization. Demand for data centers is only going up as mega trends including the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, the Cloud and Big Data take hold. Digital Realty is well positioned to support these developments around the world. In short: This company has legs!

Cons

The pace at Digital Realty is breakneck at times and individuals who need a lot of handholding and guidance struggle.

Pros

Good pay and opportunity for advancement. Stable job and supportive environment.

Cons

Being such a big company makes it easy to get stuck into one specific, repetitive role and could halt advancement if you don't take ownership and move forward to higher level responsibilities.

Pros

Digital Realty is a great place to work. What I like the most is teamwork and overall sense of being part of larger initiatives. Relative flatness of organization stimulates collaboration and provides framework for people to work together. There is overall sense of high productivity. Things get done and sometimes I’m amazed with how much work gets done in a relatively short time. This is also a fun place to work. From simple things such as Faces and Places pin board where we get to post fun photos on internal home page to various team bonding events we do have a lot of fun. Work/life balance is great too.

Cons

Digital Realty has a handful of traditional offices. The rest of the employees are spread around the global footprint in smaller office like environments attached to various data centers/campuses. Distributed footprint makes it a bit challenging to get to interact with a lot of employees regularly. Periodic team events and regular All Hands Calls are all helping with bridging the distances. However, if you’re looking for a workplace where you can stroll down the hall and talk to your teammates you may be disappointed. You will need to use communication tools such as Skype to and interact with the broader employee base. I don’t think this is a major issue but may take a little while getting used to it.
