Pros

International working environment (I say this with a lot of reservations). Some of the teammates are/were great to work with.

Cons

When I first started working for this company I had great hopes for my career. Even though I read the bad reviews on Glassdoor, I decided to quit my stable respectful job and work for them. They seduced me with growing opportunities and I was excited to grow even more professionally and help expand the company. It didn’t take a week before I noticed the abusive language in the internal communication (face to face or emails), where employees were treated with disrespect in front of others, and that was totally normal. Huge red flag as they like to label things! How can any employee do anything right when they change their minds all the time about everything? The internal communication is a mess and has no proper process for basically anything. I lost count of how many times I was awaken by emails early in the morning, holidays… the thing is, if it was urgent it's understandable, but most of the time was just bullying. Expect no feedback… They will make sure you fail and then treat you with disrespect. Even if you don't fail they will say you did and give no proper explanation or proper grounds. Of course, top management based in New York are not aware. Middle management suffers from bipolar disorder and their attitudes will demotivate you. I almost regret staining my perfect CV with this company.

Pros

Good people on the ground who try to do their best for their clients.

Cons

It is sad to see what a good company could become. The global teams have been discontented for quite some time but the constant lip service from Management to sell more to customers to increase revenue (who don't really need more that the basic service they signed up for); the increasing demands from Management to do more work (after making scores of people redundant); and the constant acquisitions of companies (good luck Galvanize, Steele!) without a cohesive strategy to create a unified platform to offer its clients have led many to leave the business. DIligent has also made many people redundant across its key service locations only to place new and untrained staff in Galway. The staff are so inexperienced that customers are constantly complaining to their poor customer success managers who do not shoulder the responsibility of of supporting their clients anymore and who are also saddled with learning an increasingly list of poorly developed and poorly supported products. The exodus is across many business units regardless of seniority. There was a time when Diligent could be recommended to others. Not anymore.

We appreciate your honest feedback. While this was a tough review to hear, it is important to understand the feedback. With this in mind, we recently embarked on a strategic transformation to align our organization to the evolving needs and challenges of our customers. As part of that, we established new international offices in geographies more closely aligned to our client base. We’ve been intensely focused on our onboarding and training programs for new hires, as well as our teams globally across Commercial, Product, and Customer Support. More recently, as you alluded to, we made two strategic acquisitions – Galvanize and Steele – that position us to achieve our vision to build a unified GRC platform, which is something we’re confident our clients will find most valuable. We recognize that there has been a lot of change and news to digest recently at Diligent. But we are confident these steps are the right ones for us to grow sustainably in the long-term – for the benefit of our clients and our team. And as always, wherever there have been near-term impacts to team members, we have strived to be as supportive as possible. I also want to acknowledge you feel that no one is listening – I am truly sorry to hear that. Our team members’ questions, thoughts, and reactions are paramount to us, and I encourage you to reach out to any of the leadership team or to HR (confidentially if you wish via hrconfidential@diligent.com) with any further thoughts you want to share. Thank you again for your post. - Avigail Dadone, Chief People Officer

Pros

Used to be a fun place to work. Used to be.

Cons

Shaft incoming in 3...2...1 Diligent used to be an excellent place to work. Everyone around you was as committed as you were, driven and motivated. Management was supportive, initiatives were welcomed, there was a real sense of 'team spirit' - you felt like we were all on the same team, all pulling in the same direction, all trying to get to the same place. About 6 months ago everything changed overnight. From saying "we're all in this pandemic thing together" the CEO turned around and gutted the company. Product and Support got shipped overseas (where it's cheaper - someone should tell him about "fast, cheap, good - pick 2"), product managers who weren't cut loose left of their own accord, tech development got screwed to the extent that the Chinese wall which in well-run software companies exists between Dev and QA (if you need to have the logic for this explained the you're probably Diligent management) was done away with and QA now reports to Development. Go figure. Not that it really matters anymore. Having slashed and burned his own workforce, Diligent's CEO has convinced his backers to give him enough money to make not 1 but 2 acquisitions, dropping $1.3bn+ on the transactions. I wonder if the people who work for the acquired companies (Steele and Galvanize, I'm talking to you) know that Mr. Stafford excels at one thing only, and that's talking out of both sides of his mouth at once. Per Forbes, "We believe that the 2020s-plus will all be around the ethical business and stakeholder capital". Shame that this only extends as far as his front door. Treating his employees ethically, treating them as stakeholder capital, is an alien concept. If I worked for either of these companies I'd be polishing my resume and making a dash for the door. That's certainly what I'm doing.

We appreciate the honest feedback as difficult as it may be to read. As you know we have grown rapidly over the last 4 years and in Q3 of 2020 we decided to pause, reset and make structural changes to position Diligent for our next wave of long-term growth. We recognize this has been challenging for some of our colleagues, and we have strived to be generous and considerate in supporting those impacted. This wasn’t a decision we took lightly, as making such significant changes isn’t something we do regularly, and certainly not in the last 4 to 5 years. We did, however, believe the best path to sustainable growth is to better align our solutions around our clients and connect teams in certain locations to make it easier for our teams to collaborate. And with a focus on the long-term, we also doubled down on increasing the breadth of our solutions through mergers and acquisitions. In any tough decisions we make, we remain long-term focused on what’s best for our clients and employees. Our talented teams are growing with over 150 current open positions. We are dedicated to driving impact for our clients and on shaping the GRC category. We sincerely regret that you believe we missed the bar we work to achieve for our employees’ experiences or that you don’t feel that we are authentic in taking a long-term perspective and our aspiration of building the leader in GRC. You’re invited at any time, if you’re willing, to anonymously share any more specific feedback with us at hrconfidential@diligent.com so we can continue to learn and improve.
