Pros

decent 401k and most of the people we great. Culture overall was good and very team based. Well known brands and solid understanding of their market.

Cons

Exec management. The digital leadership is terrible. It reflects poorly on overall leadership. They simply dont understand/care about people. I was amazed at the shocking lack of transparency, communication and people leadership. Heavily financially decision making process leads to short term projects. This company is not building value. They only are looking to sell the company in the next few years.

Pros

Matched 401k and benefits are good. This experience taught me exactly what I do NOT want to do or be apart of from a career perspective.

Cons

The overall experience at this position was extremely negative. Team members did not work well with each other. Felt almost like a "high school" type of atmosphere; very catty. This particular department lacked good moral values and culture. There also lacked good/positive communication between the Assistants, Planners and Management staff. I would not go back to work in the Communications department at Discovery ever again. You must have tough skin to work in this type of environment in order to do well - it is very much a "sink or swim", which was a direct quote from one of the Managers. Upper level management is extremely misogynist and highly inappropriate with the younger employees, especially with the women. I found there to be a level of disrespect and harassment by management and other employees which made it difficult to work around.

Pros

The people. The benefits are industry-leading. Current HQ close to transportation and services (but that’s changing). Onsite doctor’s office and daycare.

Cons

No career development. They will pigeon-hole you into roles that fit their needs. Not a lot of promotion potential so be prepared to job hop, as loyalty is not rewarded.
