Great Company

Pros

The supervisors and higher-ups are all wonderful people who really care about their employees. They are readily available to offer help and support when needed. I have recommended others to apply to work for this company solely based on the fact that you'll be working for some very good people.

Cons

Nobody likes a holdover period, so the holdover period being a con goes without saying. The pay also isn't the best but that's no fault of the company, but an overarching problem with EMS (this company actually pays better than most other ambulance companies). Other than that, there are a handful of really great people working for dispatch, but also quite a few that are incredibly difficult to work / communicate with. Again, these three cons are pretty much universal problems within EMS, and nothing specifically wrong with the company.

Exactly what you would imagine

Pros

You get to see and do just about everything you expect from work as an Emergency Medical Technician on an Ambulance. The people you work with are great and management is an absolute pleasure. You get pride in what you do and that the work you do can make someone’s life better.

Cons

You make just above minimum wage. All your income is from overtime hours which you get at least 8 on the normal 24-hour schedule at a station. It is physically exhausting work. You will come home at the end of all your shifts very tired. There is not a lot of room for growth and you do get a raise every year so there’s that.
