Pros

Smart people focused on a great problem that helps our customers improve their business processes. As long as we stay targeted on helping electronic signature and digital transaction management grow, this will continue to be a great company. There's room to be creative, and try something new, but we're also focused on pragmatic results, not just good ideas.

Cons

We've been hiring a lot of people from other larger companies that expect to have a lot of things done for them, and avoid getting hands on with customers.

Thanks for weighing in. Your comments mirror the comments that bubbled up from our employee engagement survey. Great collaborative team but we need to develop processes. While this is often a challenge of companies facing monster growth like ours and we are focusing on all of those areas.

Pros

It's as-advertised. I had my pick of hot companies to work for but truly believed in DocuSign's vision for a digital world. Not just signing things electronically, it's the next 2-3 steps that I'm interested in. I was not disappointed to find that the company is full of like-minded people. There's really no need to point out that people are sharp - every self respecting SV/SF/Seattle/hot-bed-of-technology tech darling is full of sharp people - but it's the hunger and excitement people exude because they know we're on the brink of doing something truly transformative. Cliches like 'changing the game' and 'transformative' was common among recruiting pitches I heard during last job hunt, and I'm sure some companies do mean it, but I'm satisfied with how DocuSign walks the walk.

Cons

Some would rate lower stars because of the lack of structure, and it is a challenge, but anyone that did their homework knows DocuSign is going through hyper growth and a lot of process and structure is being defined as a work in progress. I'd like to think the company makes up for this by hiring very individually strong people. At the mid level (Senior Manager/Directors/Sr. Directors), I see a lot of peers who has been here done that and can adapt fast to changing priorities that is somewhat expected at this pace. The work-life balance and hours isn't great almost by definition of being a tech start-up. But again, to expect otherwise would be odd. Besides, people that track stock options in secondary markets knows the work is worth it.
