Pros

Write your own schedule. Never really worked 40 hours a week. Met some cool people. The thing you have to remember about the regional staff at Dollar Tree is they are the people who could not make it at higher quality retail companies...(grocery, high end clothing, etc) Most are wash outs of CVS, Michael's, and Rite Aid.....There ability to lead and develop are very limited......If you want to learn retail go to Costco, Trader Joe's, or Whole Foods. They take care of their employees.....

Cons

If you have quality retail experience you will be disappointed. This company is all about the bottom line, not family friendly. Associates are not allowed more than 20 hours.....Your employees are the fast food crowd. District Managers are no where to be found. Regional staff turns over every two years....Not many people invest in the people. Weak upper management, no true leaders.

Pros

Some are run by good people and feel like family. They offer benefits for their full time employees at a reasonable price.

Cons

It is very difficult now for people to move up in the company. They want more from their workers for less money and benefits. Also, they have an "associate appreciation day" that is more focused on giving customers discounts than actually appreciating their employees. And their HR department doesn't seem to care too much about what actually happens and is reported. There are people stealing, working off the clock because their managers ask them to, and a lot of "if you tell on me, I will deny it". I had a few managers "borrow" money from the safe and even though I reported them nothing happened. And very little raises are given. They will pay you as little as possible. There isn't much recognition for hard work monetarily.
