Pros

I was hired in as an Assistant Manager for Freight about 5 months ago and so far, it has been as excellent job. Of course there are bad moments but that's for every real job. If you work in management, you are expected to work hard, juggle 20 things at once, and always keep a level head on your shoulders no matter how crazy things get during the day. Also as a manager, flexibility is a must. Of course no one wants to close one day and then come in at 5am the next, but it's what has to happen sometimes. I love my job because of the education and experience I'm receiving every day. Dollar Tree is a great company to work for, they pay decently, and they don't ask too much from you.. only to be logical and prepared for the work ahead of you. My plan is to stay here and move up to Store Management. Maybe even one day, I could go higher considering my future education goals.

Cons

The customers are possibly the worst part about the job..I don't know what it is about my store that makes customers so rude, so clueless, and so vulgar but whatever it is, I have to deal with it daily... Also, I work in a relatively large Dollar Tree. The customers flow in and out non stop. I mean it's CHAOS almost constantly... the problem is not the business but the fact hours allocated are so low, that at any given time of the day there are only 2 employees working - 1 cashier and 1 manager on duty. Because of the lack of staff, no work can get done with stocking, cleaning, paperwork, or anything for that matter. It's extremely stressful and discouraging when I walk in to get a lot done but can't even get close to achieving the goal. But customers are always first, right?

Pros

Love the people I work with at DT. Awesome DM. Something new every day. I keep busy, never a time where there is no workload. I have an awesome TEAM!!!! We all work together and aim for the same goal and everyone is happy. Just make sure to use all the tools the company provides you with to have an easy job. Work smart not hard. Give positive feedback to your employees you work with and see how much more they will work for you.

Cons

Not enough managers in a store to cover shifts when managers go on vacations.

Pros

The benefits and pay were good.

Cons

Never enough payroll, constant turnover, trying to process insane amounts of freight with only 2-3 people. District Managers that don't listen or care, employees always calling out so you never when you'll actually get home from work. An absolute nightmare of a company to work for.
