Pros

You get paid to work

Cons

The whole job itself is awful, being overworked and underpaid, and the other employees being able to do whatever they want because they are the managers favorites while the managers just sit in the managers office playing on their phones, not doing anything they’re supposed to do leaving the lower workers to do everything. They constantly deny your requests off and will anyways hold you past your shift. If you clock in 5 minutes late you are nonstop berated , they will Rig your drawer for you to get written up and if you get three write ups, you get fired. My drawer was sabotaged several times, and they are very biased. I forgot my meds and I needed to leave work to get them and I lived less than five minutes away from the location and they told me to either choose my job or my meds with the meds being what I need to function so I told them I’m sorry I’m choosing me .I would honestly find somewhere better to work. There are many other places that deserve your time more.

Pros

Management could be flexible about hours but usually not. Hours are continuously reduced and given to favorites of management. If they want you gone they will whittle you down to 4 hours a week and blame it on no hours from regional and corporate management. In reality the store management is mismanaging the hours. Yes these are my positive comments having worked there for 2 years. Corporate does not provide any support to stores. Hey it's Dollar Tree! Why should they.

Cons

Management does not have a professional tool box to lean on, instead they are often crass and low level people, use foul language, imply many things but will never speak straight and directly regarding any and all situations but prefer to play the "hey I heard you were having issues, or a problem, or didn't handle, or refused, whatever language it is that they want to use to play the intimidation, gas lighting game", as well as use management by intimidation techniques (also known as bullying, and playing favorites) to let an employee know that they are not liked and the background message is you will lose your job if you don't play ball with me. This place is the lowest. Although they are a billion dollar business who raises their prices to $1.25 per item. That impacts tax assessed, and raises the end cost of a purchase be it 1 item or 50 items. Sheesh.

Pros

The training process is easy

Cons

The lack of hours that are given to employees that want to work is sickening. Why does a manager only get 15-25 hours spread out over FIVE days making it difficult to pick up a second job. Also, female ASM who close the store at night take the deposit, alone to a bank with NO compensation. We are told not to "work off the clock" but that's what that is, doing a dangerous activity, using your gas and not getting paid. As a manager ur always called for assistant when u d clockednout for a break.. always... The store mangers get extremely upset if you don't stock the expected amount-even though you only have 5 hours and a lot of manager duties to do in that time as well. Along with being a back up cashier. You want me to stock more in a shift? Give me a longer shift. And, DT employees are one of the lowest paid employees. #fact The list goes on and on......
