Pros

What attracted me to the company was the opportunity to be a part of a company that was so community focused and to feel that my work would make a difference. The initial leadership team for my group was amazing.

Cons

At the end, after several internal reorganizations, I felt like my work wasn't important and that I, as an individual didn't matter to the team or department I was a part of. Priorities shifted with every reorganization. Projects that were critical one month were nonessential four months later under the new team. I have recommended the company to others and many still work there and love it. I would not go back.

Good place for some experience

Pros

At one time Dominion was a very stable and decent place to work with a lot of perks. There is a decent amount of opportunity to grow and branch out to other positions. The management is generally helpful.

Cons

Over the last few years Dominion has taken away many perks including vacation perks (ability to carry over vacation, ability to sell unused vacation, ability to receive vacation all at once), flex time, parties and outings, phasing out pensions. In addition, one of Dominion's main attractants was its stability and bonus system. Their value proposition was that although they paid lower than their peers, it was a stable place to work with good bonuses. Unfortunately after being victim of a layoff and dodging 2 others, it is less than stable. Also the bonus (Called Annual Incentive Plan), has goals which the average employee or even whole department has absolutely no ability to affect. Last year we didn't get our bonus because of the weather.

Pros

Solid compensation, despite antiquated culture.

Cons

Senior management routinely failed to deliver on promises. Unprofitable lines of business are scrapped and moved below the line. Management can't generate new revenues and relies on weather and hope.
