Pros

-4-10s Schedule -Good resources from Tech Center -Working for a big comapnay that helps in your resume -I thought benefits are good but now that I'm in a new companay I realized that Dow is nowhere close to other Oil/Chemical companies. At my new company I have 30% higher pay, higher 401K contribution, etc and better work atmosphere and co-workers/supervision support. Also better mentoring support.

Cons

-I had several supervisors and they all sucked. They only care about Politics and not about helping solving problems. They will ask for excellence but you are on your own. -In maintenance they will just dump work to you and don't train you no matter if you are a new hire or not. They will only give you an overview training (5 months long) of how the company/maintenance works but nothing technical. -Bad working environment. Politics. Watch your back from others.

Pros

Good benefits, average salary and good people to work with.

Cons

The politics is too much and few direct leaders are power intoxicated.

Pros

Great local leadership, flexible work schedules, performance meritocracy. Many career opportunities within Dow outside of R&D; your career advancement is only limited by your abilities, work ethic, and dedication.

Cons

Glass ceiling for techs within R&D after 13+ years. Bachelor's degree does not go near as far within R&D as it does within M&E (~$10-20K salary difference). Admins and techs are significantly undervalued career-wise by corporate leadership. Scientists are treated preferentially compared to admins and techs. Scientists come up with ideas and it is up to the techs to bear almost all the burden in making it happen. R&D Admin or Tech jobs are great for people who like stable jobs, flexible schedules, and comfortable compensation, but are bottomless pits for those looking to grow their career beyond average.
