Pros

Interesting projects; flexible working environment; great benefits. Strong history and interesting people.

Cons

Matrix organization-new opportunities hard to get unless 'selected'- need strong internal network to thrive and get assigned to good projects to grow your career. Many staff are underutilized due to poor task assignments.

Pros

Worked in the Microfabrication group. They spend money on new tools and have an excellent group of technologists developing novel products across a number of industries.

Cons

Some management personnel are not well equipped to lead both human & equipment resources. Lots of PhD employees are not great leaders.

Pros

There will be times where the vision of working on some of most intellectually challenging problems will make your day.

Cons

and you will also be awestruck by how outdated the processes , procedures, and bureaucracy can be. Some tasks will be really boring. Bottom line. It's a job. Ups and downs. Get a real life outside of work, and you will probably like this place.
