      Pros

      Some of the people are great, technical staff seems to know their stuff.

      Cons

      Management within department is stagnant, work is menial. Very patriarchal work environment.

      Pros

      Very casual. Flexible hours. Doing your job and learning what you want is what's important. Surrounded by brilliant scientist willing to talk about what they're doing. They are open to you taking on multiple projects.

      Cons

      Some administrative work can cause bottleneck in your projects. Boss is sometimes out on business trips, so less guidance. Requires one to be proactive in finding more projects. The engineers don't really know your skill level so you need to talk about what you can and can't do (be honest if things are too hard or too easy)
