Great place to work

Pros

Lots of interesting technical problems to solve. Relaxed approach, very little in the way of pressure or deadlines. You get to see your software used by amazing artists to make movies ... with your name in the credits :) Incredible sports & fitness facilities at Redwood City campus. Great art classes ... painting, improv, stop motion, sculpture ... you name it. CEO Katzenberg is incredibly open and emails everyone summaries of what he's been up to every day or two.

Cons

Surprising amount of bureaucracy/corporate culture for such a creative place. Having software teams answerable to movie executives with no understanding of software development can get silly at times and leads to engineering managers spending too much time keeping the people above them happy. Overly complex software environment means it takes quite a while to learn the ropes as a new person.

Pros

"Free" Lunch Interesting, super intelligent, ambitious colleagues. Beautiful environment Competitive salaries

Cons

Executives make opaque decisions and do not communicate them to the rest of the studio. The software and pipeline are stuck in the 90s. Decisions are made at a snail's pace, and they're usually bad decisions. It seems likely that all of the film jobs will be outsourced in the near future.

Pros

The place is beautiful - great working environment! The people your working with day to day are talented and share their knowledge.

Cons

Advancement can be slow - hard to change to other departments. Some of the supervisors need better people skills.
