Tied to a sinking ship by golden handcuffs

Pros

Dropbox's compensation package is good. Salary, benefits, and other perks are in line or better than similar mid-size tech companies. Remote-first work is nice and you can get sent to some nice spots for offsites.

Cons

Company-level: Dropbox has missed the boat so many times on opportunities to innovate. The core product is loved, but storage is a commodity now, and we are constantly losing to cheaper, bigger players. We've tried to give ourselves a leg up by expanding our product portfolio, but have either failed to build/bring great products to market, or we build a great product and then decide we don't want to invest in it anymore. Our leadership, especially S-Team, get in their own way. Team/individual-level: There are extremely limited growth opportunities at Dropbox. As the business continues to tighten its belt, there are fewer opportunities to get promotions. Additionally, many mediocre employees are leveled higher than they should be, either due to tenure or being in the good graces with the decision-makers. Dropbox's inability to recognize and promote capable and high-performing employees is resulting in a lot of departures of good talent, which is doing real damage to team culture (and leaving low-performers to take on all the impossible work).
