Pros

- Teammates are incredibly smart, motivated, mission-oriented and humble. It is a joy to come to work every day! - Level of ownership over your work or projects is unparalleled, in my experience. I have had the opportunity to work on impactful projects within my own team as well as cross-functionally, and if you're on a project, you have a voice at the table - no matter how senior-level that table may be. - Senior management is very transparent - open Q&A every week, board meeting reviews, company-wide updates, etc. I feel like I know what is going on with other teams and at a company level. Our exec team trusts us to the point of being able to share a lot of information (product development, financials, etc.) that might be kept confidential at other/larger companies. - My lead gives me support and advice rather than micro-managing or delegating work to me... I essentially get to "be my own boss" on a day-to-day basis. That is partially a function of how my team is structured, but it also reflects our belief that you are going to be inherently driven to do your best work and don't need to be micro-managed. - Tuck Shop (our cafe). Enough said. - Competitive compensation and great benefits (gym, cell phone, Caltrain, commuter benefit, shuttle in the city, 401k match, charitable donation match, etc.).

Cons

We may have tripled in size in the past year and a half, but we are still a start-up in many respects. Things change fast, and your responsibilities are often a level or two higher than your role may indicate. That's a great opportunity to gain experience quickly, but a promotion that reflects how much you've taken on may lag behind a bit (and work-life balance may suffer in the near-term). That said, addressing these issues are something that our management team and People Ops is actively working on.

Pros

- Amazingly intelligent coworkers - Ingenuity - Freedom to be creative - Wonderful support system - Drive to work hard - Well compensated in terms of perks, benefits, salary, etc.

Cons

- We are not yet fully taking advantage of PR--we have an amazing product, one that is better than any other in this industry but we don't rebuff attacks. We need to focus more on this. Brand image is half the battle.

Pros

- Without a doubt the most intelligent coworkers you'll ever have. - Genuine focus (almost to a fault) on maintaining and refining company culture of passion, innovation, and fun. - Extremely tight community - Gratuitous amount of trust -- every employee gets ambitious projects and has a voice in high-level decisions, no matter their role. - A flat heirarchy allergic to bureaucracy and micromanagement. Very rarely need to ask permission for anything. - The company is extremely generous and not afraid to spend money if it means happier employees. - The compensation package (pay + equity + benefits) really can't be topped. - Working on something that's legitimately good for the world yet still has tons more potential.

Cons

- A heavy focus on iteration means that many projects often ship a bit slower than we'd like. Spending 99% of the time on 1% of the details, while romantic, often results in more time and frustration than it's worth. - Not hiring fast enough -- most functions are painfully undermanned (still only one iOS developer). - Perfectionism and being undermanned often lead to many late nights and work over weekends. - Heavily engineer-driven company means that other (non-eng) roles need to compete over time and resources.
