Pros

There are a lot of talented people working here and we have a great product portfolio. There are lots of resources available to develop new business opportunities. Turnover of people is very low.

Cons

The company has been downsizing for 20+ years and stock price is stagnant. Most of the growth in the employment base is overseas. Only a "chosen few" get the opportunity to work outside of the US as most positions are staffed by locals.

Pros

Pros: Relatively speaking, DuPont offers above average security and stability. Throughout my career, there has generally been a tendency to reassign or relocate productive employees whose jobs are being phased out. Corporate driven programs geared towards respect and diversity more or less insure that you will not have to operate in an oppressive atmosphere. DuPont still produces a range of products that are recognized as technical achievements in the global market.

Cons

Cons: Corporate culture is intensely risk adverse and geared towards rewarding business strategies that focus on short term objectives. Very focused on bottom line spread-sheet accounting, frugal to the extent that manufacturing facilities are sorely outdated and inefficient. While the corporation's focus on safety as a top priority suggests a positive side of working at DuPont, it has in fact created an environment where oversight & micromanaging is excessive, regulations are interpreted in the most conservative manner possible and program cycle times are significantly longer than the norm. Numerous industry initiatives have been embraced over the years (e.g. 6 sigma, lean manufacturing, etc.) in an attempt to improve business performance, morale, etc., however, execution has been mediocre to poor.

Pros

Company reputation. Ability to work with good products. Dupont has a good name still in the industries in which they work. Or so we are told. They seme to be financially stable even in the curretn recession. We will see about that though.

Cons

Top down management. Not always competent. No feedback for performance. No guldelines as to how to get a promotion. The senior management live in their own world with no contact with underlings and they do not seem to care about them.
