Pros

I joined Duke Health after working at UNC for a while -- and trust me, Duke is the place to be. I grew more there than I ever have. My manager (and most other leaders I encountered) as well as my team were so supportive of not only my career growth, but also me as a person. It was also cool seeing all the innovative things going on across the system and the new initiatives that Duke is now implementing to try and be even better.

Cons

Nothing big that sticks out to me

Pros

Some of the best managers and staff to work with

Cons

It would be great if all staff received pay increases like the nursing staff.

Pros

The majority of the healthcare professionals providing direct patient care, all the way from nursing assistants to physicians, are wonderful and professional.

Cons

Mid-Senior level hospital administrators refuse to address persistent issues regarding pay, staffing, and treatment of team members. Even the recent pay increases are disappointing and show how little they value those providing direct patient care. Behind closed doors they are arrogant and condescending towards staff. This is an institution-wide culture. Make no mistake, the administrators themselves are paid handsomely for the time spent sitting in meetings making decisions affecting jobs that they have never themselves done.
