Pros

Paid time off, employee activities and potlucks, meet new people and co-workers, very diverse.

Cons

Stressful, favoritism when taking time off, the pay is good enough to only pay bills, attendance is crucial, work environment can be dry if you allow it to be. Depending on which department your in management and trainers can be rude or nonchalant.

Pros

Experience. As everyone has stated, it looks nice on your resume. It’s a bunch of hype, really! 40 minute lunches, 2-15 minute breaks (if you’re lucky).

Cons

Work culture is awful. Lots of cattiness! OR is very inequitable in how cases are assigned among the services (ie general staff pulled to run urology and gynecology cases but not vice versa). Mandatory overtime AND call ( night and weekends) despite there being off shift employees for this very purpose. Parking is expensive. Pay is the lowest in the area despite being a “prestigious” institution. The workload does not (I repeat. DOES NOT) match the pay. High turnover. Red Flag! All nurses received a 2.5% raise last year except new hires, in addition to a $3 raise which everyone was entitled.
