Overall it is fine

Pros

Ratios are good, staffing is usually good, pay is good

Cons

EVERYTHING is dumped on nursing. There is a lack of accountability for every other discipline to their job except for nursing. It makes working there very frustrating because nurses do the jobs of about 6 different roles when others don't feel like doing their job that day.

Pros

Health benefits were excellent. Pension is offered after so many years of employment. Generous PTO amount allowing for work life balance. Overall Duke Health Systems is organized, professional, and reputable. The lab I worked in had great teamwork.

Cons

Yearly raises didn’t match inflation. Very little room to advance in the laboratory. Complicated process to advance in the laboratory. As an employee you have to pay for parking and it’s expensive. Understaffed labs that lead to overworking and burnout.
