Pros

Duke is the the best of the best and has many opportunities for growth and advancement.

Cons

Pay range too low for NC state tax, cost of living etc. the range is minimum $20/hour to maximum $26/ per hour. Weekends on call rotational- just keep that in mind even if standard schedule is Mob-Fri 8-5 emergencies can happen.

Pros

Being at a teaching hospital is a great opportunity to learn from brilliant physicians and be exposed to more unusual pathology.

Cons

Overall negative work culture from management and peers. Perpetually understaffed with an overbooked schedule. Pressure on technicians from management to fix an impossible situation they are not solely responsible for.
