Pros

Job security: Duke is desperate for employees. The less experienced, the better. This keeps salaries low.

Cons

Job security (see above), although not physical security of staff. An employee was strangled in a public hospital restroom recently. Lowest salary in the area. Emphasis on profit vs. outcome.

Pros

This is great place when you are fresh out of school. Their respiratory department will do a 6 month orientation with didactic days for continuing education. Its a great experience

Cons

The pay is not as high as some of the other local hospitals, but the work culture is well worth the pay differential

Pros

Working 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week

Cons

Unsupportive management, unhappy co-workers, toxic workplace. When I approached my manager about my feelings of burnout and frustration, I was told that they didn't believe in the word "fair" and that I have the workload that I do because they "knew I could just do it".
