Pros

The pay is fantastic and the coworkers and management are all fantastic. It's a very positive environment to be in everyday. People do really care for you and your future. Training is very hands-on and you feel competent by the time you are making drinks for customers.

Cons

It's difficult to be 100% positive at all times, and it can be hard to find a balance between being always positive and genuine as well. Some of the long-time employees can be uninclusive. Also it is almost impossible to get more than 28 hours per week unless you are a manager.

Pros

Great atmosphere, they love all costumers and hire well based on personalities that will help cultivate the environment they've worked hard to achieve. Fun place to work if you're in high school or college. Generally management cares about building healthy teams that work well together.

Cons

If the stand or region isn't large enough there isn't much room for advancement. Corporate advertises easy franchising, when in fact they have you jump through many many hoops without any possibility of franchising. Most stands tend to lean towards the party scene, which is influenced by the headquarters.

Pros

At Dutch the philosophy we fallow is the Dutch Creed. Even though it has been almost two years since my employment there, it is something I still respect and try to live by everyday. The company teaches its employees to love all and serve all to the next level. It challenges employees to form truly personal relationships with its patrons in order to make regulars feel special and welcomed and to encourage more people to become regulars. I was always taken back and honored by how much people respond to enthusiastic kindness. We had customers cry when they were moving and had to say good-bye to us and I still run into regulars from time to time who will say they miss me and am usually shocked how much we remember about each other's lives.

Cons

Towards the end of my time there, management became very political. This is probably not the case in all franchises but at mine most of the people who truly lived the "Creed" and were hirer up got pushed out by less honest people. Also while some employees will stay for years about half stay a year or less. This is normal in the coffee business but it is still sad to see people that Dutch has made you so close with leave.
