Following on from the pros... iy has changed. The pride you had for working turned to shame in away, and we lose all the good young talent. It has been one negative news story after another for the past 4-5 years. Dyson comms need to realise that, the nature of the company of Dyson, means each news story affects everyone of their employees ...over diner with their families, in the pub with their friends, over the fence with neighbours.
Dyson talks of its futuristic tech.. and yes the tech and development is brilliant.. and thats credit to the engineers; you people are just wow! Also adding to that, whilst Dyson may "not do marketing" the marketing/commercial team are mindblowing... have you seen the campaigns??! But as a company we are not futuristic... or even present... or even the 1990/2000s. You must be "seen" to be doing work... i.e. pretend to do work, not actually do work (a big difference!). WFH is a forced option due to covid (ironic since james came up with the vacuum in his garage)... and now apparently the reason for projects delays (if senior management are reading... in all my years never has a project been on time as the times are politically promised but delivered in real time. Covid and WFH has not added to this. If anything cross functional teams are working better thanks to TECHNOLOGY! )
Finally, people "disappear" at dyson ... whilst those disappearing are looked after, those left are left anxious and insecure and thus work hard in an atmosphere of fear.. this is a short term model... perhaps this suits dysons aims. Its time to become sustainable not cling to models of the past. If anyone can do this you can Dyson. So... do it. Become a Technology company.. as in, an actual one. Forward thinking, seeing the value of people. I believe you can.
