How horrible is ECPI? Let me count the ways: The place is a profit-driven business, much like Walmart or Target. Professors are required to clock in and out each 8-hour day, even on Fridays when almost no classes are held. Professors are to sit in small, almost claustrophobic offices for 8 hours each Friday and before or after 4-hour classes. The terms last 5 weeks, which is not pedagogically feasible. The most important issue for professors is clocking in and out. Quality education is rather negligible at what many employees call an "Academic Sweatshop". The department heads and the head of academics are completely insensitive and even dismissive of the professors who work under them. Pan-optical cameras are everywhere. This way the management can keep an eye on everyone at all times. One is reminded of Orwell's 1984. This prison-like environment is oppressive and not conducive to true education. However, education doesn't seem to matter much here. What matters is money, profit, and more money. Professor come and go at a quite rapid pace, especially when they realize how they are regarded by the academic "leaders". Very few professors are dedicated to this place.
