Pros

Borough Market is just down the road and that's really nice for lunch. The office is brand new but they underestimated how many people there are and now everyone is horridly cramped.

Cons

In the last few months the IT team has gone to rock bottom. They have brought in new management who are the last people I (or you probably) want to work for. Childish, back stabbing, gossiping and incompetent are just a few words I'd use to describe the new boss. I'll be leaving just as soon as i've found a new position anywhere. Should you end up at an interview here I'd ask them why there are hiring so many new people. "All the existing staff hate it and the management and so they are all leaving" is the truthful answer they probably wont give you. Oh and if they talk about 'cultures and values' stop listening immediately. Every word is a lie. Trust me on this one or just ask for evidence of what they do when things get a little tough.

ED&F Man Response

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear such a negative view and accept that we have had some issues in our IT function. IT and enterprise resource planning are critical to our success and we must get it right. We have now made some organisational changes to ensure that the function has strong leadership, is fit for purpose and is no longer over-reliant on contractors.

Very unpleasant experience

Pros

There was very few Pros. Apart from a lovely state of the art building. Although Ed&F Man staff have to take the service entrance, as we were not considered important enough to enter in the main entrance like 90% of the other building tenants. Most of IT staff very nice and decent people.

Cons

There was 300% turnover of staff , it was like a revolving door. Nobody stays in Group IT for very long. The Senior management have very little idea about managing staff. They rule with an Iron fist. In my experience, I felt bullied and their tactics are intimidating, with threatening behaviour to towards their staff and I also found the blame culture off the scale. There is absolutely no motivation, no training and a complete lack of investment in regards to Group IT staff. Exit interview are constantly ignored by HR as EVERYONE repeatedly complains (it is simply brushed under the carpet, no doubt filed in the wastebasket). There is NO work life balance. You work VERY long hours with NO OVERTIME including weekends and bank holidays. The Core values are simply lip service. NO respect, NO Collaboration. Just found this place to be VERY, VERY unpleasant place to work in. BEWARE!!

Poor operator

Pros

No real pros. Man is a very poor operator in the commodity world with endless very often self created problems particularly in the sugar division. Difficult to find trading or stock positions or debtor status due to lack of data management. Avoid if possible

Cons

As above - add senior management disconnected from real world nor can they deliver a clear vision for its employees
