Pros

Not so hard to get started. You get a good title and they drop you in the pool so you have to learn to swim quickly. Workload is high, especially as you are learning from scratch. Good atmosphere with young international colleagues. Good opportunities for travel and meeting young people. Relative freedom if you have the right manager. You get to be quite all round in your department.

Cons

Long hours, pay is not great even though it is marketed as being great. No pension. Politics mainly with management. In my case I would have had to move abroad if I wanted to go on with my career in the company. Lack of clear career paths. Senior managment in place because they are loyal rather than competent.

Pros

EF is a great organization to work with to develop intercultural communications skills and learn from the "ground floor" I honed my training skills there as a teacher of English.

Cons

Lessons can be rather restrictive in content, allowing for little "official" expansion. However, creativity is encouraged and extra-curricula activities can amply supplement the class activities. Extra-curriculum is usually on your own time though.

Pros

EF is a young, dynamic company that believes in working hard and playing hard, and balancing hard work with a healthy, active life outside of work. Benefits are great: generous vacation, excellent health benefits, travel and language program discounts, and a great restaurant / bar in the building that is the place to be after work on a Friday. There is a strong organizational culture and plenty of buy - in to the culture by senior management, and a big part of that is entrepreneurial spirit. The most successful employees are those that do their jobs as if they owned the place.

Cons

There is definitely a salary trade-off for working in such a great culture: salaries are significantly lower here than they are elsewhere in the job market. Job hunters that have a strong need for personal space may be surprised by the open-concept office space, where very few have private offices and even the most private offices have glass walls looking out to large work areas.
